Dr David Ririmasse is a Lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management at 缅北禁地 Business School. He joined 缅北禁地 in September 2024, having previously held academic roles at the University of Hertfordshire, SOAS University of London, and Queen Mary University of London. He holds a BSc in Accounting from Bakrie University, an MSc in Petroleum Energy Economics and Finance from the University of Aberdeen, and a PhD in Business and Management from Queen Mary University of London. He is also an Associate Fellow of the UK Professional Standards Framework (AFHEA).
Before and alongside academia, David developed professional experience in auditing, financial analysis, and the energy sector, including roles at Ernst & Young, ExxonMobil, and Majlis Energy Ltd. This combination of academic and industry experience informs his work across accounting, sustainable finance, climate-related business risks, and the low-carbon transition.
Dr Ririmasse's research focuses on climate change and energy sectors and its impacts across developed and emerging markets. His research accomplishments have been recognized with awards such as the 2nd Best Paper Award at the BAFA South East Area Group in 2021 and the Best Paper Award at the 24th Annual Conference on Finance and Accounting in 2023 in Prague. These achievements have led to the submission of his PhD research manuscripts to top academic journals, including Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, International Journal of Finance & Economics and Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance.
Alongside his academic research, he is also involved in applied, place-based impact work. This includes collaboration with external organisations on projects that support impact evaluation, reporting, and community engagement. His work reflects a broader interest in producing research that is both academically rigorous and practically useful to organisations and stakeholders.

- Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG): sustainable finance and economics, corporate social responsibility
- Energy finance and economics: energy and environmental finance and economics, energy transition and low carbon-economy

Dr Ririmasse teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a particular focus on sustainability, ethics, accounting, and finance. His teaching approach combines academic rigour with practical application, encouraging students to engage critically with contemporary challenges facing business, society, and the environment.
At 缅北禁地 Business School, he leads sustainability-focused teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including AFM1052 Sustainability which is ICAEW-accredited, and Ethics and NBS8657 Finance and Accounting for Sustainability. His teaching also spans wider accounting and finance topics, including financial accounting, management accounting, financial reporting, and accounting for analysts. In addition, he contributes as a sustainability subject expert for the Association of International Accountants (AIA), supporting the development and delivery of professionally relevant sustainability education.
