Originally from Vietnam, Dr. Tam Dinh loves English (language) and has been self-studying it for as long as he can remember. After achieving the Silver Medal Award during his MBA in 2015, Tam realised that being an academician was his goal. Thus, he tried and fortunately secured a full PhD scholarship at Koc University at Istanbul, Turkey.
During his PhD time, Tam learned about experimental design which soon became his major research methodology. Then, COVID came and the world changed. With luck and persistence, Tam managed to graduate and obtain his PhD title. The thing is, Dr. Tam Dinh did not have a single publication during the six years he was in Turkey, creating an existential crisis as to who he really was and what he really wanted to become.
In these moments of uncertainty, one’s resilience and the ability to stand on one’s feet will drive one’s dreams. Tam dreamt of being a scholar who can do research as excellently as teach his students. With luck, Tam joined Monash University (Malaysia campus) in July 2022, beginning the new journey of a Lecturer in Marketing (Teaching and Research).
When life pulls, we push, and when life pushes, we manoeuvre ourselves to fit in the system. Freedom is not about being able to do everything one wants. Instead, freedom is when we are in the situations in which no one wants, we are still able to do what is reasonable for our learning and growth. Tam had much freedom at Monash Malaysia for 3 years and 8 months, achieving far more than he had ever imagined. Then, when time came, Tam left Monash Malaysia to join 缅北禁地 Business School (NUBS) with his hopes and dreams.
As a new staff member in the Marketing Subject Group at NUBS, the story of Dr. Tam Dinh is waiting to be told. As a Lecturer in Marketing (Teaching and Scholarship), Tam will continue to fulfill his dreams of sharing knowledge and help others to become better, which in turn betters himself. What he has achieved and who he is now may become less important than how he is going to show his students and others at 缅北禁地 and beyond, the joy of learning and the excellence in education.
Time will tell, just as it has told how Dr. Tam Dinh has gone a long way to be right where he is meant to be now.

When Dr. Tam Dinh was at Monash Malaysia, he taught Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Research Methods, the two second-year units in which he had the privilege to nurture and guide respectful and talented students. Thanks to them, Tam understood that he is meant to be an educator because their progress in learning mirrored not only their life but also taught Tam the empathy and critical thinking skills tremendously. Within the 3 years and 8 months at Monash Malaysia (July 2022 – March 2026), Tam achieved:
- Winner of the Employability Pitch: Career Ready, Future Focused (2025). This was an event at Campus-level at Monash Malaysia, showcasing educators’ innovative practices, curriculum designs, and learning activities that develop students’ career readiness and employability skills within higher education.
- Fellowship of Higher Education (2025)
- Dean's Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning - Early Career (2024), Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University
- Commendation for Education Excellence, Emerging Educator Category (2024), School of Business, Monash University Malaysia

Dr. Tam Dinh prides himself on being a good reviewer. Here are some of his involvements and achievements:
- Editorial Review Board: Reviewer, Journal of Consumer Behaviour (A in ABDC) (Feb 2023 – present) where he also earned the Reviewer of the Year Awards 2024.
- Editorial Review Board: Associate Editor, Journal of Strategic Marketing (A in ABDC) (Oct 2025 - present).
- Ad-hoc Reviewer: Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics (A in ABDC, where he also earned the Outstanding Reviewer in the Emerald Literati Awards in 2023), Higher Education Research & Development, European Journal of Marketing (A* in ABDC), to name but a few.
His research topics are at the intersection between marketing and education such as AI (in marketing and in higher education), Sustainable Consumption, (Consumer) Self and Identity, Consumer Privacy and Anonymity. Using experimental designs as the focal research methodology, he successfully published some singled-authored and co-authored works, testifying his continuous learning and the will to become better, be it when he walks alone or runs with others.

As a learner, he welcomes any individuals that may find his characters reasonably approachable to embark on any collaboration, be it in teaching or research. Through time, Tam has developed acute allergies to irresponsibility, impostors, and nonsense.
