Background

Ying Zhang joined 缅北禁地 Business School in October 2025 as a Research Associate in Digital Transformation. She holds a PhD in Management and Business from the University of Surrey (UK), an MSc in Tourism Management from Xiamen University (China), and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Northeast Normal University (China). She is also a qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in China, an accreditation equivalent to the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Research

Ying’s research examines contemporary socio-technical challenges, focusing on the adoption of digital technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence across individual, organisational, industrial, and national levels. Her work addresses socially significant themes including trust building, privacy externalities, financial inclusion, and employee wellbeing in the context of digital transformation. She is currently contributing to a project on AI Safety. 

Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Finance and Economics, and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, and has been presented at international conferences such as the British Academy Management (BAM) Conference, the International Conference on AI and the Digital Economy (CADE), and Chinese Economic Association Conference (CEA).
