My main research interests relate to child-centred research, dental caries, developmental defects of enamel, ssessment of oral health-related quality of life in children and oral health economics, in particular the generation of Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) in child oral health research.

I am the lead investigator on the NECTAR study, which aims to conduct a triple bottom line analysis of care pathways for children with dental caries (tooth decay) in England. This study received £1.5 million funding from NIHR through an Advanced Fellowship. Further information about the NECTAR study can be found .

I am the lead developer of the CARIES-QC-U utility instrument, which has both an adolescent and adult tariff to generate caries-specific utilities for children with caries.
