Impact
(1) Timber floor vibration:
- Performance of timber floor under human-induced vibration
I am leading a group of researchers in the “Standard of Timer-Concrete Composite Structures” committee to develop the serviceability design approach of timber-concrete floor system. The approach will be edited into the Standard of Timer-Concrete Composite Structures.
- Development of multiple tuned mass damper system for timber floor
I am group member in an industrial collaboration group Wood Technical Forum led by Dr Wen-Shao Chang at University of Lincoln (group members include Ramboll, Heyne Tillett Steel, Klöckner & Co, Hybrid Structures, ElliottWood, Whitbywood, Integral-engineering, Atelierone, Lendlease, etc.) addressing timber floor vibration problems and developing multiple tuned mass damper system for timber floor.
(2) Wind-induced vibration of tall timber structures:
- I was sponsored by ARUP and won a Short Term Scientific Mission of COST Action FP1402 to measure tall timber structure vibration across Europe. The measurement results are important to determine the dynamic properties and damping capacity of the tall timber structures, and can facilitate the industry for designing.
- I was invited to be a guest speaker in ARUP Berlin to present this research contribution. I was also invited to give a presentation in the COST Action FP1402 meeting in Pamplona, Spain.
- I was invited to measure and analyse the wind-induced vibration of a multi-storey timber structure in Stockholm by Martinsons, Bygdsiljum, Sweden.
(3) Tuned Mass Damper:
- Based on my research on tuned mass damper and its vibration control, I was invited to take part in a standard editing called “General technical requirements for design and construction of conventional island of 1500MW PWR nuclear power plant”.
