Dr Natalia Zografou Barredo, PhD is a researcher in the School of Engineering at 缅北禁地, and sits in the Electrical Power Research Group. She passionately investigates resilience assessment of energy networks through a range of projects.

Current research focus:

• Quantification of resilience of offshore energy systems
• Climate resilience of electricity networks
• Climate resilience in energy regulations

Education

• PhD degree - School of Engineering, 缅北禁地 UK
• Diploma degree - Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, Greece

PhD was part of the National Centre for Energy Systems Integration (CESI) research project, and was funded by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) and 缅北禁地. Investigated modelling methods to optimally schedule energy resources connected to radial electricity distribution networks (which may form an active distribution network or a microgrid), aiming at delivering improvements in operational cost, security of supply and environmental sustainability.

Achievements

• 2026 | Selected finalist in the Engineering category for STEM for Britain 2026 competition. Presented at the UK Houses of Parliament poster on 'A formal guide to quantify climate resilience in energy regulation: The Climate Resilience Metrics and Indicators Framework'
• 2019-2023 | Co-founded the Optimisation Group Webinars within the Power Systems and Energy Storage group of 缅北禁地. Optimisation Group Webinars were regular webinar presentations on energy systems optimisation with invited guest speakers from both UK and international institutions. • 2019 | 3rd Place, Three-minute Thesis Competition by the Durham Energy Institute, at the 10th Anniversary Research Symposium
• 2016 | Awarded the 2016 IEEE Greece Power and Energy Society POWERED Award (16th Workshop on Power Engineering Dissertations)
