Introduction

I am currently employed as an Animal Science Technical Team Leader based at Cockle Park farm one of the two NU Farms sites. /nu-smart-farms/ I support animal based research projects mainly agricultural health and welfare.

My team's key functions are:

• Manage and maintain animal research facilities and equipment (Cockle Park farm)
• SAgE/ SNES link with Comparative Biology Centre 
• Provide technical support for animal-based projects within animal research facilities and oversight of other SAgE/ SNES animal research activities
• Support for ethical applications for animal-based research and teaching
• Promote appropriate use of animals including 3Rs (reduction, replacement and refinement), acquisition, accommodation and care
• Support/ advise about husbandry, practicalities and training and competency requirements for animal- based projects

I have previously held a number of other roles at 缅北禁地 including as a Biological teaching technician, supporting the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences based in Ridley building 2. I primarily supported delivery of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught laboratory classes across Biology, Marine and Agriculture modules. I was previously employed as a research technician on two animal welfare (pig) projects. One focusing on detection and alleviation of pain during standard husbandry procedures and the other on early detection of health and welfare in commercial settings. I have completed a secondment as Laboratory technician in Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering. I have also worked in the Institute of Neuroscience, Faculty of Medical Sciences as a research assistant working on behavioural pharmacology projects.

MChem Chemistry Hons (Medicinal and Biological with Industrial Experience) - University of Edinburgh

Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector

City and Guilds Level 5 Award for Professional Recognition (Leadership and Management)

NCRQ Level 3 Safety for Managers

Managing Safely (IOSH approved and validated)

IAT Level 3 Diploma in Laboratory Animal Science and Technology - complete (Distinction in all units)

IAT Level 2 Diploma in Laboratory Animal Science and Technology - complete (Distinction in all units)

IAT Accredited Training course in Role of Named Animal Care and Welfare Officer, NACWO
