The Research Finance Team support Principal Investigators (PIs) with the internal financial management of research (RES) accounts from project setup to completion.

Research (RES) Account Financial Management

• Principal Investigators (PIs) have access to the  which provides financial information on active research accounts.
• The research finance team provide regular internal account review spreadsheets, providing the PI with a detailed breakdown of spend along with forecasted salary costs.
• Please email the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences -SNES.ResearchFinance@newcastle.ac.uk for an updated project review.

The research finance team will :

• Support the PI and Project Managers with forecasting where required by funder.
• Provide financial approvals for new employment and contract extensions on research grants.
• Action staff resource changes on research grants when requested by the PI.
• Provide advice on Funder terms and conditions.
• Support with audit queries, grant variations and early terminations.
• Support the finance process for grants transferring out of 缅北禁地.
• Support the PI to ensure all costs have been correctly incurred and grant expenditure is maximised.
• Confirm final statement with the PI and the Contract Financial Management (CFM) team who manage external reporting requirements on research grants.
