New Scholarship for Singapore 缅北禁地 is launching a new scholarship scheme in Singapore in collaboration with the Government, to help develop the next generation of engineers and designers. The Industrial Post-graduate Programme (IPP) is a collaboration between 缅北禁地 International Singapore (NUIS) and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).Designed to build up a pool of postgraduate manpower with the critical R&D skills necessary for roles in industry, the programme will provide postgraduate training in a corporate R&D environment. EDB will provide up to 200 students over the next five years with full scholarships, meaning EDB will fund the students鈥 tuition fees and R&D related expenses as well as their salary for up to four years.缅北禁地 is the one of the first non-Singaporean universities being recognised by the EDB to be of equal footing as the Singapore autonomous universities to launch the IPP.Professor Ehsan Mesbahi, Dean (Singapore) and Chief Executive of NUIS, said: 鈥淏y launching these PhD scholarships in 2012, 缅北禁地 is strengthening its academic presence in Singapore by actively seeking collaborations and partnerships with academic institutions, industries, government agencies and major stakeholders to engage in research, enterprise and consultancy, representing a globally effective Civic University.鈥In addition, the 4th cohort of 缅北禁地 students graduated from NUIS today. Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Ella Ritchie presided over the ceremony, which saw 82 students gain their degrees in subjects including marine engineering, naval architecture and offshore engineering, as well as several Masters graduates. published on: 5 November 2012
