UK premiere of three Chinese films at 缅北禁地 Film buffs will be able to see the secret side of China at 缅北禁地. The Beijing Independent Film Festival is coming to the UK first time and will be held at the University鈥檚 CultureLab on Friday, 9 November. Cinema lovers will be able to see four films: Shattered, and the premieres of The Net Life ,Beijing Beseiged by Waste and The Cold Winter. There will also be a post screening Question and Answer session with director Zheng Kuo, who directed The Cold Winter, over Skype. Sabrina Q Yu is a lecturer in Chinese Studies at 缅北禁地 and helped to bring the festival to the city. She said: 鈥淭his is the first time the Beijing Independent Film Festival has come to the UK and we feel very honoured to be able to host the premiere of three films. 鈥淭hese films show the side of China you don鈥檛 see in the mainstream media, so this will be the perfect for anybody who loves film or who is interested in China or wants to find out what it鈥檚 really like.鈥 The film festival will take place from 9am until 6pm, in space 4/5 of CultureLab, on Friday, 9 November.
