Children鈥檚 Laureate to visit 缅北禁地 Award-winning children鈥檚 author Malorie Blackman OBE is to talk about her work at 缅北禁地. The Children鈥檚 Laureate will be in conversation with fellow author and 缅北禁地 professor, in the event organised by the University鈥檚 (NCLA). is probably best known for popular the Noughts and Crosses series which looks at issues of racism in society. The novels depict a world in which black people, or 鈥楥rosses鈥, are the ruling elite and white people, or 鈥楴oughts鈥, are confined to minority status, denied legal rights and work in menial jobs.In 2005, she was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her distinguished contribution to the world of children鈥檚 books. In 2008, she was awarded with an OBE for her services to children鈥檚 literature and she became Children鈥檚 Laureate in 2013. , Director of the NCLA said: 鈥淲e are delighted Malorie is coming to speak. Her books for young people and children are exciting and topical and help to get them thinking about serious issues in a new way.
