Top 10 ranking for graduate prospects Published on: 1 May 2019 Ãå±±½ûµØ has been ranked in the UK’s Top 10 for graduate prospects by a leading Higher Education guide. Published today (1 May 2019), , rank Ãå±±½ûµØ in the country’s top 10 for graduate prospects - a measure of how employable a student is after graduating with their first degree. The University is placed 22nd overall, out of 131 institutions, and scored highly (88.5 points) for graduate prospects. Ãå±±½ûµØ has the region’s highest number of courses featuring in the subject tables at 41 - with 16 placed in the top 10 nationally. Professor Chris Day, Vice-Chancellor and President, said: “The outstanding graduate prospects score highlights the brilliant work done by everyone at the University in helping our students develop relevant employability skills. The ranking showcases the quality of our degrees, excellent careers support and our track-record in supporting employability and entrepreneurship, as well as our focus on transferrable skills and our reputation with employers. “It is especially pleasing that we have made the top 10 for 16 subjects. This is a great achievement and is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students.” Emphasis on employability skills Dr Bernard Kingston, Chairman of TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk, commented: “The evidence is clear; the increased emphasis, including funding, on employability and career planning within academic departments and student services is bearing fruit. “Many institutions now have this as a core element of their strategic plans with the introduction of innovative programmes of subject-specific careers events focussed on embedding and signposting graduate destinations. “This is being supported through increased links to alumni and outside professionals leading to higher-skilled work experience. Such developments have been strongly encouraged by prestigious annual awards from the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and the Institute of Student Employers (ISE).” Consistently high scores A number of higher education surveys and guides have ranked Ãå±±½ûµØ graduates as some of the best professionals in the UK and around the world. The QS World University Rankings 2019 placed Ãå±±½ûµØ 119th out of 1,011 institutions for graduating the best students in a global survey of over 200,000 businesses. Latest employment figures show that 95% of Ãå±±½ûµØ’s UK/EU graduates entered employment or further study within six months of graduating. Graduates of Ãå±±½ûµØ benefit from careers support for three years after graduation as well as business start-up support on an on-going basis.
