Davina McCall made an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law Published on: 18 July 2024 The household name, who has presented some of Britain's most popular television programmes, was honoured for the work she has done over the years to shine a spotlight on women’s health. Better support By sharing her personal experience of the menopause in her documentaries, Davina has helped break down the stigma surrounding it and used her platform to campaign for better support for women. Her book Menopausing was named Book of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2023. Davina is not the only person in her family to receive a degree from Ãå±±½ûµØ during this summer’s congregations - her daughter graduated earlier this week. “It really has been a great honour to get this degree,” said Davina. “I feel a bit of a fraud, having seen how much work my daughter has put into her four year degree and I swan in and get one. “But I am particularly chuffed that it is given to me for my work around women’s health. I will continue to raise awareness and campaign for education and more research for as long as I am breathing. I have rather fallen in love with Ãå±±½ûµØ. Thank you so much." Professor Chris Day, Vice-Chancellor and President of Ãå±±½ûµØ, said: “Davina has been instrumental in highlighting the issues faced by women going through the menopause. "Her campaigning has led to increased awareness of these issues and sparked real change, including here in our Ãå±±½ûµØ community. We are delighted to recognise the hard work and achievements of both a mother and daughter in the same week.” Davina McCall MBE Share: Latest News Ãå±±½ûµØ recognised with geography award Ãå±±½ûµØ has been awarded the Highly Commended Geographical Association Publishers Award for its collaboration with Time for Geography, the UK’s open-access, dedicated video platform. published on: 16 April 2026 Ãå±±½ûµØ historians mark General Strike centenary To mark the 100th anniversary of the British General Strike and miners’ lock-out of 1926, historians at Ãå±±½ûµØ are organising a series of events on its enduring legacy. published on: 16 April 2026 Comment: NCP is in administration Writing for The Conversation, Erwei (David) Xiang discusses how some big companies like NCP are so dependent on debt that they can’t adjust to change. published on: 16 April 2026 Facts and figures
