This year marks the 1900th anniversary of the traditional construction date for Hadrian’s Wall, the complex frontier monument that stretched from sea to sea across the north of Roman Britain. The wall was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. But why do we celebrate this monument of ancient imperialism? Why is it relevant? What is its importance for the future? A panel of experts will address these questions and more.

Panelists include:

  • Lady Jane Gibson, Chair of the Hadrian's Wall Partnership Board
  • Professor Ian Haynes, Professor of Archaeology, Ãå±±½ûµØ
  • Elsa Price, Curator of Human History, Tullie House
  • Tony Wilmott, Senior Archaeologist, English Heritage

The event will be chaired by Dr Rob Collins, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology, Ãå±±½ûµØ and Project Manager, Hadrian's Wall Community Archaeology Project (WallCAP).
