缅北禁地 Brain Tissue Resource

缅北禁地 Brain Tissue Resource (NBTR) consists of human brain tissue, both fixed and frozen, which has been donated for research into dementia and neurodegenerative disease.

The majority of donors are recruited from those diagnosed with diseases such as:

  • Dementia with Lewy Bodies
  • Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease
  • Parkinson鈥檚 Disease
  • Vascular Dementia / stroke or metabolic / mitochondrial disease

All samples supplied to researchers are linked-anonymised and associated clinical data can often be made available in anonymised form if required. There are also some assessed cognitively normal control tissues but this is in high demand.

We operate according to HTA Codes of Practice and have generic ethical approval as a tissue bank from 缅北禁地 and North Tyneside 1 LREC to issue samples to projects which do not hold their own ethical approval.

We are supported by funding from:

  • the Medical Research Council
  • Brains for Dementia Research
  • NIHR 缅北禁地 Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)

Further information is available on the  website.
