Induction timetable for undergraduates starting on Stage 1 School of Computing courses in 2026

Your Welcome Week programme starts on 21 September 2026.

You’ll find a list of your Welcome Week activities below. Click on an activity title to show the activity description.

Please note that:

  • This induction timetable is for all Undergraduate Stage One students at the School of Computing (except for those studying Computing and Mathematics BSc Honours, who should refer to the Undergraduate Stage One gg40 induction timetable)
  • All activities may be subject to change. Check back regularly for the most up-to-date information.
  • All activities are compulsory unless stated otherwise.
  • Alongside the in-person sessions outlined on your timetable, all registered students are required to complete our essential .

Monday 21 September

09:00 - Welcome to the School of Computing - FDC.G.41

Time: 09:00 to 10:00

Venue: Room FDC.G.41

A talk to welcome new students to the School of Computing.

10:30 - Future Employability and Industry Engagement - FDC.G.41

Time: 10:30 to 11:30

Venue: Room FDC.G.41

A session on how to improve your future employability by engaging with the industry.

12:00 - Meet your Peer Mentor (Group A) - USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

Time: 12:00 to 13:00

Venue: Rooms USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

An opportunity for students from Group A to meet their Peer Mentor. You should have received an email from the School of Computing telling you which group session you will be attending and giving you more details about your first group meeting with personal tutor.

13:00 - Meet your Peer Mentor (Group B) - USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

Time: 13:00 to 14:00

Venue: Rooms USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

An opportunity for students from Group B to meet their Peer Mentor. You should have received an email from the School of Computing telling you which group session you will be attending and giving you more details about your first group meeting with personal tutor.

Tuesday 22 September

09:00 - Meet Your Academic Advisor - TBC

An opportunity to meet your academic adviser.

Thursday 24 September

10:00 - Information Fair/ University Community Welcome - USB Atrium and Event Space

Time: 10:00 to 13:00

Venue: USB Atrium and Event Space

An opportunity to talk to Support Services such as Maths Aid, Career Service, Student Societies and more at information desks in the Atrium.

09:30 - Practical (Group A) - USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

Time: 09:30 to 10:30

Venue: Rooms USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

Students from Group A will take part in a practical session. You should have received an email from the School of Computing telling you which group session you will be attending.

10:30 - Transitioning into University (Group A) - USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

Time: 10:30 to 11:30

Venue: Rooms USB 3.005 + USB 3.015 + USB 3.018

A talk for students from Group A on how to transition to university life. You should have received an email from the School of Computing telling you which group session you will be attending.
