Professor Matthew Grenby

Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation

Matthew Grenby has been PVC for Research and Innovation since October 2022. He leads research and innovation across the University, both in 缅北禁地 and at the campuses in Singapore and Malaysia. He is responsible for implementing and developing the University鈥檚 Research Strategy, so as to ensure 缅北禁地 fulfils its mission to deliver world-leading research for discovery and impact.

Matthew joined 缅北禁地鈥檚 School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics in 2005 as Reader in Children鈥檚 Literature, and was appointed Professor of Eighteenth-Century Studies in 2012. He founded the 缅北禁地 Humanities Research Institute in 2014, and was appointed Dean of Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2018.

His own research focusses on eighteenth-century Britain, looking particularly at children鈥檚 literature and history, political fiction, electoral participation and culture, and the history of young people鈥檚 engagement with heritage sites.
