About Hannah

Project description

This project investigates the morphological footprints of anthropogenic activities, such as sand mining and damming, upon the Red River Delta (RRD), Vietnam.

The RRD has been undergoing spatially-extensive geomorphological change in response to intensifying riverine sand extraction, damming, and groundwater abstraction.

Despite this, little is known about the spatial extent, magnitude, and effect of sand mining upon the RRD鈥檚 morphology and local livelihoods.

This project aims to bring together remote sensing, bathymetric riverbed surveys, participatory research methods and citizen science techniques to generate local expertise to explore the spatial distribution and magnitude of anthropogenic activities, and their resultant impacts, upon the Red River Delta鈥檚 morphology and livelihoods.
