Our research

The Constitutionalism and Governance group interrogates the:

constitutional foundations of states
EU and international organisations
ways in which modern democracies are governed

We also explore the relationship between individuals and the state.

We particularly look at this in the context of human rights law.

The group is convened by Dr Francesco De Cecco and Bernardo Carvalho De Mello

We look at whether prisoners should be allowed to vote.

historical studies of the UK constitution and the role of criminal juries

Funding and impact

Our research is funded by the and the . We regularly give evidence before Parliamentary committees. The group鈥檚 work has shaped government policy in a wide range of areas. This includes Brexit and the human rights of prisoners.
