Research
The use of ionising radiation (IR) in medicine, the largest source of general population radiation exposure, is potentially associated with increased risk of cancer and non-cancer diseases, which needs to be evaluated to provide evidence-based input for risk-benefit considerations, optimization of treatment protocols and implementation of preventive actions. In this context, my research aims at improving understanding of the biological and health effects of exposure to medical IR in children, specifically cancer patients treated with modern radiotherapy techniques, and cardiac patients treated with cardiac fluoroscopy procedures.
