Staff Profile
Ana-Maria is a social anthropologist interested in practices of care, ethnicity and migration. She is currently working on the project entitled Dementia care in South Asian Communities: An ethnographic and interview study led by Dr Kate Gibson. The project uses ethnography to investigate the intersections of care for South Asian people in 缅北禁地 living with dementia and their social networks.
Before joining 缅北禁地, Ana-Maria studied for her PhD in the Department of Anthropology at Durham University. Her PhD is an ethnography of Romanians in North-West London, exploring their moral and political experiences and practices of identity formation. Prior to her PhD, Ana-Maria completed a Masters in Research Methods (Anthropology) and a BA in Anthropology and Sociology at Durham University.
Ana-Maria is passionate about teaching. She has experience in teaching introductory social anthropology and supporting students during hands-on ethnographic field courses.
