Background

‘Charlotte Rothwell is a Senior Research Associate in the Population Health Sciences Institute. Her main research role is in the area of Prevention, early intervention and behaviour change as part of the Applied Research Consortium (NIHR ARC North East and North Cumbria). Charlotte is working on two NIHR National Priority projects: 'Workplace in Health Initiatives' and 'the Evaluation of Tier 2 Local Authority Weight Management Services' as part of the Weight Management: National Enhanced Service Incentive Evaluation. In addition, Charlotte is also an Associate Member of Fuse -The Centre for Translational Research in Public Health.

Charlotte continues her research work in the area of Medical Education. During Charlotte’s 16 years in medical education she has worked on several large scale national projects, which have had an impact on policy, including the General Medical Councils 2009 edition of Tomorrow's Doctors to name one. Organizations that Charlotte and her colleagues have been contracted to work with include; the General Medical Council (GMC), the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), the National Clinical Assessment Service (NCAS), The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), the Medical Schools Council (MSC), the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF), the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Department of Health (DH) and Health Education England North East & North Cumbria. Charlotte has been Principal and Co-investigator on several externally funded projects, and continues to be involved in several medical education projects.

  • Workplace health and wellbeing initiatives

My main areas of teaching have been delivering teaching and supervision related to qualitative research methods.
