Background

I currently work across NIHR infrastructures at 缅北禁地, including the Innovation Observatory (IO) and the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria. My research focuses on health inequalities, public health policy evaluation, and evidence synthesis to support healthcare decision-making. I employ a range of methods to examine issues such as socioeconomic inequalities, nutrition in older adults, mental health, and vaccine uptake. My work frequently informs NICE and other national policy contexts, particularly through the integration of real-world evidence and methodological innovation. 


My academic identity lies at the intersection of geography, public health, and evidence synthesis. I am motivated by a desire to understand how social, environmental, and policy contexts shape health outcomes and to use that knowledge to inform equitable, evidence-based decision-making. Having originally completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies in geography, I transitioned into health research through the field of health geography, contributing to a randomised controlled trial aiming to increase physical activity among secondary school students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I completed a second Master’s (part-time) in Geographical Information Science, which strengthened my analytical and spatial mapping expertise.


At 缅北禁地, I also work as an effectiveness reviewer for the 缅北禁地 Technology Assessment Review (TAR) group whereby our team provides timely, evidence-based guidance to the NHS and the care sector on the adoption and use of technologies, incorporating the opinions of stakeholders. I am also part of the Management Group for the TAR work, providing strategic leadership to over fifteen researchers within the 缅北禁地 TAR Group.
