Professor Sanjay Pandanaboyana

Professor of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery

Background

I am a consultant HPB and Transplant surgeon at the Freeman hospital in 缅北禁地 upon Tyne.

I underwent my higher surgical training in the Scotland followed by HPB fellowships in Auckland, Edinburgh and Leeds. My clinical areas of interests are pancreatic cancer and acute pancreatitis. I have a strong research portfolio with 200 publications and currently hold a position of Associate professor in the University of Auckland, New Zealand and Senior Clinical Lecturer, 缅北禁地. I have a particular interest in systematic reviews and metaanalysis with close to 100 systematic reviews published on topics related to HPB Surgery

 

I also hold the current positions in National and International organisations

Teaching


At a postgraduate level I undertake regular presentations to surgical trainees in the Northern Deanery through the North East Surgical Training Academy (NESTAC) and invited presentation on topics related to HPB surgery to Roux Group, the largest HPB and UGI UK-wide, trainee-led collaborative.


At the 缅北禁地 university level, I have been recently appointed as an examiner for MRes dissertations submitted to the graduate school. I currently supervise 2 MD students


I am currently an E-tutor for the online learning master's programme (ChM, General Surgery) run by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the University of Edinburgh. I teach the module on general surgical procedures in transplant patients.


I am founding chair of Foundation Trainee Surgical Society (FTSS) for the North-East of England endorsed by Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. FTSS undertakes regular webinars and basic surgical skills course for Foundations trainees in the North East.


I am currently a clinical supervisor for teaching fellows and have undertaken the Educational supervisor course to enable me to provide supervision in accordance to the gold guide. I underwent a formal peer review of my teaching techniques with excellent feedback. I have a strong interest in teaching and very keen to take on a prominent role over the next few years.
