Research Interests
The studies of our group is focused on physiological/pathophysiological aspects of neuronal differentiation, maturation and degeneration in relation to the persistent neuropathic and acute pain of various aetiology. In our research we employ in vitro pain models on recombinant cell lines, primarily cultured sensory neurons isolated from animals (rats and mice) and the neurons derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Using these models we explore the pathways of ion channel regulation by G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) with a set of physiological and molecular techniques.
The aim of our research is to generate the data that provide rational basis for selecting drugs which may be useful for enhancing neuronal function in patients with neurodegenerative disorders, inflammatory, post traumatic and neuropathic pain.
