Rebel English Academy: Mohammed Hanif in conversation with Preti Taneja

We are thrilled to welcome the award-winning writer Mohammed Hanif as he discusses his new novel, Rebel English Academy. Wry, searing and deeply relevant, the novel explores political power, religion, education, sexuality and dissent through a vibrant cast of interconnected characters, as Pakistan comes into modernity. This is a triumphant novel about political power, religion, education, sexuality and dissent by one of the finest novelists working today.

He graduated from the Pakistan Air Force Academy but subsequently left to pursue a career in journalism. His first novel, A Case of Exploding Mangoes, was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award and won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Novel.
