Welcome 

We hope you're looking forward to joining us as a new student at Ãå±±½ûµØ. You will be joining a friendly and passionate academic community of learners and professionals. We are here to support you as you take on the next stage of your education. 

Induction starts on Monday 21st September 2026 for all new and returning students. This one-week induction period will give you a chance to get to know the University, the school, and your programme of study. Attending your induction sessions is important so you can make the most out of everything on offer to you. 

Please also make sure to read our Student Welcome pages which will give you all of the information you need and what to do before starting. 

Teaching will start on Monday 28th September 2026. 

Your Stage 1 Induction Timetable 

Induction for Psychology BSc and Cognitive Science BSc takes place throughout the week beginning Monday 21st September 2026 when we will welcome you to the School of Psychology. 

Your first welcome sessions are on Monday 21st September from 10.30am.

Helpful information 

After completing your registration on campus, you’ll get access to . Canvas at Ãå±±½ûµØ (NCL) is the main Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used for online learning, teaching materials, and assessments.  

As part of your in-person induction with the School of Psychology, you will attend a computer workshop where you will test your Canvas log in and learn how to navigate Canvas, NU Wellbeing, and other helpful resources. In the meantime, here are some helpful links regarding disability and wellbeing support.  

 

Peer Mentors 

Every new undergraduate student at Ãå±±½ûµØ is assigned a Peer Mentor, whose role it is to welcome you to the University and help you to make a smooth transition to your programme of study. You will meet your Peer Mentor during Induction Week at a Meet Your Mentor session. Find out what to expect and how to make the most of the scheme.  

Academic Advisors 

Every new undergraduate student at Ãå±±½ûµØ is assigned an Academic Advisor. Academic Advising is a key part of your support at Ãå±±½ûµØ. Your Academic Advisor will help you reflect on your academic progress, skills development, goals and future plans. You will meet your Academic Advisor during semester one. Find out what to expect and how to make the most of academic advising.

Key people are your Academic Adviser, the Degree Programme Director, your lecturers and the professional services staff in the School Office. We are all here to help you through your time studying at Ãå±±½ûµØ.
