Flexible, high-quality training in Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) in the North East.
The Institute of Electrification and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (IESAM) is the first institute to address the industry need for PEMD training in the North East.
The project brings together the North East Institute of Technology and key regional higher education and further education providers. It鈥檚 funded by the Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge, co-funded by 缅北禁地, and delivered by Innovate UK for UK Research and Innovation.

To meet the developments of the Electric Revolution, there is an increasing need for experts in these growing fields.
We鈥檙e developing a flexible, high-quality training pipeline for Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD). This will help to address the need for qualified professionals at all technical levels.
Education engineered for industry
Our goal is to make sure our students receive an education that meets the demands of the industry.
Our curriculum development team is constantly working with our education and industry partners. This is so we can embed the current and future industry needs into our curriculum and programmes. This includes robotics, automation and control, and digital manufacturing.
Our aim is to create rich PEMD content for T Levels, higher technical qualifications as well as advanced and degree apprenticeship programmes.
It鈥檚 estimated to benefit 7,500 learners.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Our CPD programmes are short courses and bespoke modules that support the upskilling and reskilling of the existing industry workforce.
Electrification CPD programme
Our electrification programmes are aimed at further education lecturers, to empower them with the knowledge of electrification.
Information, advice and guidance
Industry: Directing people to PEMD training and skill-building opportunities at all technical levels, from beginner to expert.
Resources for career advisors: We can provide resources for career advisors in schools, colleges and job centres. So you can raise awareness and encourage interested students and professional to pursue a rewarding career in the Electrification sector.
