German Studies Research
German Studies research at 缅北禁地 focuses on 20th- and 21st-century culture and society from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as German and Dutch linguistics.
Our research is strongly interdisciplinary, incorporating new insights and perspectives on German Studies.
Our current research projects explore:
- the culture, society, and literature of Switzerland
- literary multilingualism
- contemporary German-speaking theatre and performance culture
- German and Dutch linguistics
- philosophy (modern European thought) and comparative literature
- film aesthetics
- German politics and society
At 缅北禁地, we collaborate with the Centre for Landscape and with the Critical Theory and Practice Group. We are active in British German Studies via connections to the AGS, W+IGS and in Dutch Studies to the ALCS.
Internationally, we have connections to:
- the Urner Institut Kulturen der Alpen at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland
- the Internationale Vereinigung für Germanistik (IVG)
- the Modern Languages Association (USA)
