The donation has been given to the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research at 缅北禁地 by 96-Year-old Chris Bates.  The funds are in memory of his two sons, Kenneth and Peter, who both died from the condition.

It wasn鈥檛 until after Kenneth and Peter passed away that Chris discovered they had been suffering from mitochondrial disease.  Since then, it has been his life ambition to support research that can eradicate the disease.

Professor Grainne Gorman expresses her heartfelt thanks to Chris Bates on behalf of the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research and 缅北禁地.
