Professional archaeologist with wide interest and involvement in multi-period archaeology of Northern England (see publications list) - using a range of fieldwork techniques and oral history - and European research interests focussing on the archaeology of the Ottoman-Austrian borderlands of Bosnia-Croatia, and modern pottery production in the Western Balkans.
Pottery research including a continuing long-term ethnoarchaeological study of pottery-making in the Western Balkans
Multi-period archaeological research in Northumberland using desk top study, survey and excavation, on subjects including historic buildings, Roman military and medieval ecclesiastical sites, and a long-term study of erosion damage at Harehaugh iron age hill-fort.
