David was regarded as one of the finest mediator trainers in the world, having designed and delivered training courses throughout the UK and across the World. On every mediation he undertook, he took along an assistant, demonstrating the dedication that he had to sharing his experience with others. He was always willing to share his wisdom and expertise with those who sought it. He frequently raised awareness of mediation overseas, particularly in countries where mediation was in its infancy and trained management, lawyers and judiciary in Russia, Indonesia, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Bermuda and Kenya. He also acted as a specialist adviser to several UK government departments (including the Treasury Solicitor鈥檚 Office, Department of Health and Office of the Deputy Prime Minister).

David鈥檚 many published books on mediation include 鈥淢ediation of Construction Disputes鈥� (Blackwells) and 鈥淗ow to Master Commercial Mediation鈥� (Bloomsbury) and 鈥榃ho鈥檚 Who Legal鈥� confirmed his global status describing him as 鈥渙ne of the most respected commercial mediators in the world鈥� and a 鈥淭hought Leader in mediation鈥�.

David's family has emphasised his commitment to mediator education and training, 鈥淒avid loved training and teaching and guiding the next generation of mediators - he passionately believed in the need for a greater understanding of mediation in all its forms," says David's son, Olly. "Part of his unrivalled legacy was that those that knew him, those that were trained by him and those that benefited from his years of experience still refer to the books he wrote, the guidance he gave and the courses he developed, and that is a true testament to his reputation as one of the greatest mediators and trainers of mediators in the world.
