ARTIN 2026 Meeting on Representation Theory
15 October 2026
Earlier this month, we held an ARTIN (Algebra and Representation Theory in the North) 2026 meeting. ARTIN is a long-running workshop series dedicated to meetings with a focus on represemtation theory. ARTIN meetings are sponsored by the London Mathematical Society, the Glasgow Mathematical Journal Trust and by the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences.
This year’s meeting also received funding from the UK-European Representation Theory and Categorification Network RepNet and 缅北禁地. This ARTIN meeting is a combination of a regular ARTIN meeting and a meeting aimed at Early Career researchers. The plenary speakers were Chris Bowman (University of York), Maud deVisscher (City University London), Johannes Flake (University of Bonn), Sasha Shapiro (University of Edinburgh), Jasper Stokman (KdV Institute, Amsterdam), Lewis Topley (University of Bath) and Milen Yakimov (Northeastern University).
Additionally, 15 early career researchers were invited to give talks presenting their work, and an additional eight early career researchers were supported financially as attendees. Overall, the conference had over 40 participants. Mathematically, the main themes were on the cutting edge of Algebra and Representation theory: Temperley—Lieb algebras, diagram algebras, tensor categories, quantum groups, and links to combinatorics, geometry, and mathematical physics.
The meeting was organised by Martina Balagovic, Thorsten Heidersdorf, Stefan Kolb, Xinyang Liu and Chris Millionis.
