Introduction
In 2005, I completed an ESRC CASE PhD studentship in Sociology and Social Policy (缅北禁地), on childcare in Chinese and Bangladeshi households. This was followed by a project on older people as volunteers in Age Concern. Moving to the Institute of Health and Society (IHS), my role as a qualitative researcher included the study of the experiences of two methods of abortion in a clinical trial (TOPS), decision-making about the hyper-acute treatment of stroke (DASH) and women's experiences of gestational diabetes. In 2011 I completed qualitative research on an ambient home monitoring system for older people and supported a doctoral research project 'Designing a Decision Aid for Choice of Urinary Diversion with Cystectomy'. In the same year I joined the team as a qualitative researcher on a multi-center cohort study (MERIDIAN) assessing the role of MRI scanning in the diagnosis of fetal brain abnormalities in utero. Following this, in 2015, we ran practitioner workshops across the UK to increase the impact of the sub-study's findings. A study of the use of telemedicine in fetal ultrasound consultations followed. In 2016 I conducted a qualitative study embedded in a clinical trial (ALTAR) investigating alternatives of prophylactic antibiotics for recurrent urinary infection (IHS) and an ethnography of an artist working in a care home (Policy, Ethics and Life Sciences Research Centre, 2017). A qualitative study of a multi-centre EMPOWER clinical trial followed, investigating the effectiveness of two drugs to treat emesis in pregnancy and a small study of women who have experienced a termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly. Based at the Population Health Sciences Institute (PHSI), I have delivered on the following projects: Evaluating a NECS program of embedding Public Health Consultants in Secondary Care (June 2020), an Evaluability Assessment of a male health campaign in Middlesbrough (Jan 2021), Health and Wellbeing Community Insights and an evaluation of the Better Mental Health Foundation, both for South Tyneside Council (2021-22) including a national Implementation study of Falls in Care Homes (FinCH, 2021-2023), and my MRC PHIND grant 'ERicar' - Engaging Roma women in the co-design of an antenatal care resource' (2022-23). Following a year as Action Learning Research Associate at Insights North East (GPS maternity cover 2023-24), I am now part of the MiTiGate Clinical Trial team as a qualitative researcher in PHSI (2024-2027). 'ERicar' now refers to 'Engaging Resettled migrant mothers', and the projects 'ERicar2' and 'ERicar 2A' with Arabic-speaking migrant mothers have been completed.

I also have some experience in quantitative methods using SPSS. I am interested in comparative case study research, household research and social networks. I have particular expertise in a range of QSR software for qualitative analysis (NVIVO12 and Atlas.ti), and in working with interpreters in research among speakers of other languages.
