Ian Wylie has been a journalist for almost 30 years and is currently a freelance writer, editor and podcaster for the Financial Times, Guardian, Monocle, Management Today, Sage Gateshead and others. For 16 years he was a staff writer, feature writer and editor at The Guardian newspaper. He also runs the news project with 缅北禁地 student volunteers and previously published and edited quarterly magazine .
Ian launched and runs the , a collaboration between 缅北禁地 and BBC North East & Cumbria, which gives journalists in the region an opportunity to meet, learn, collaborate and innovate together.
Born and schooled in Northern Ireland, he has a degree in Economics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and teaches on 缅北禁地's postgraduate journalism programmes: multimedia journalism, newspaper design and sub-editing, and media law. He has previously taught online journalism at Sunderland University. Ian is married with three children and a large labradoodle. More information at
