Bake in Time

Join us for a unique seasonal workshop to celebrate Christmas mince pies past and present!

About this workshop

Join us for a unique seasonal workshop to celebrate mince pies past and present! Students will get hands on with recipe books dating back to the 17th and 18th century where they will be challenged to transcribe and compare foods, weights and methods for baking mince pies in the past and now.

They will then bake their mince pie recipes in a University Food Lab alongside Nutrition academics and students before conducting taste testing in the professional sensory tasting booths. The role of water in food preservation and the nutritional value of recipes from the past and present will also be explored. These workshops are ideal for Key Stage 3 and 4.
