Discover internships and volunteering opportunities
We have reviewed and partnered with external organisations to ensure you have a great range of opportunities to choose from. Each provider offers something different, so you’ll need to do your research to understand which is right for you.
Undertaking short-term global volunteering and internships allows you to:
- gain an international perspective and learn how to operate in a global environment
- make friends and connections across the world
- improve your understanding of other cultures
- discover a new country and way of life
- gain new or improved language skills
- gain a new perspective on your academic subject, or try something completely new
- get out of your comfort zone
- build your employability skills and enhance your CV
What to expect
These internship and volunteering opportunities are all unpaid.
You will need to pay for the opportunity - they often come as a ‘package’. This means that accommodation, in-country transport, excursions and some meals are sometimes included in the price. The duration of the trips can vary from 1 - 12 weeks.
Alongside adventure and cultural immersion, some of the opportunities involve physical, hands-on work as well as living and working in different conditions than you'd usually expect in the UK. Ensure you research and understand what is involved before you commit to an opportunity.
How to apply
You can apply for programmes as soon as you feel ready to commit. You will need to apply to your chosen partner organisation in order to secure a place on a programme. You'll also need to register your participation with the university.
A great way to volunteer and feel like you are making a difference, whilst also experiencing a new culture and meeting lots of great new people. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to develop.
