Erasmus+ Programme

Erasmus+ programme information for students and staff going abroad in 2027-28

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s programme for education, training, youth and sport.

GO are pleased to confirm the acceptance of our Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). This means we are able to access funding for Students and Staff to learn, teach or undertake a professional placement abroad.

Turing funding is available for students going abroad in 2026-27. The UK will re-join the Erasmus+ programme for 2027-28.

The majority of funding is for eligible students/staff going abroad to our partner institutions in 'member states' and 'third countries associated with the programme'. There may be a small amount of funding available to go to non-European countries

If you're going to a country that is not part of Erasmus+

We are not currently able to provide funding for placements outside of the Erasmus+ programme. You will need to plan your budget carefully, without relying on additional funding.

Information updated: 14th October 2026.

How to apply

Once we have all placements confirmed, we will assess your eligibility for Erasmus+ funding automatically. You do not need to apply.

We will email all students (likely around April) to formally notify you of eligibility. We know situations can change, and will continue to assess and monitor eligibility prior to placements starting.

How is the Erasmus+ grant calculated?

We're still waiting for the 2027 Erasmus+ programme guide to be published. Once we have this, we'll know more about how much funding we'll be able to allocate.
