Meet Drilden
Computer Science (Cyber Security) BSc
Why I chose Ãå±±½ûµØ
I chose Ãå±±½ûµØ because it is one of the top universities in the UK. When I first visited, I was impressed by how welcoming and friendly people were, which made a strong first impression.
Another key reason was the opportunity to study Cyber Security at undergraduate level. Having a course that directly matched my interests made Ãå±±½ûµØ stand out as the right choice for me.

Living in Ãå±±½ûµØ
One of the things I enjoy most about Ãå±±½ûµØ is how easy the city is to explore. Most places are within a 15-minute walk, which makes it very convenient to get around and discover new places in my free time.
I was also pleasantly surprised by how friendly and diverse the community is. It was easy to meet people with similar backgrounds, interests, and hobbies.
Student life
Alongside my studies, I’ve taken part in Indonesian Society events and enjoy playing football on weekends. I also travel with friends from my course to places like the beach, where I can enjoy the scenery.
I’m also a member of the Table Tennis Club, which I particularly enjoy. It has given me the opportunity to travel around the UK for tournaments, combining sport with the chance to explore new places.
About my degree
My degree is in Computer Science with a specialisation in Cyber Security. In the first year, I study the same core modules as other Computer Science students, including mathematics, hardware, data science, and programming.
What stands out to me is that Ãå±±½ûµØ offers a dedicated Cyber Security pathway at undergraduate level, which is not always available at other universities.
I also really value the teaching approach. Lecturers provide extra practical sessions where we can ask questions, get advice, and build a deeper understanding of the subject.
Funding and support
I received the Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship, a 50% tuition fee reduction, which has helped support my studies and reduced financial pressure for both me and my family.
The application process was straightforward. My main advice for prospective students is to focus on writing a strong cover letter, as this is an important part of the application.
I’ve also had a very positive experience with the Careers Service. Through this, I was given the opportunity to work as an International Student Ambassador, which has been a valuable experience during my studies.

Future goals
In the future, I see myself working either in Cyber Security or in finance, as I also have a strong interest in that field.
Through workshops and alumni talks at Ãå±±½ûµØ, I’ve developed a clearer interest in Cyber Security and gained insight into potential career paths by learning from others’ experiences.
