Meet Dafydd

Hydrology and Water Management MSc

Hi, I’m Dafydd from Wales, and I’m a Master’s student studying an MSc in Hydrology and Water Management in the School of Engineering.

The course is open to graduates from a range of environmental fields, so you do not need an engineering degree. This was key for me as my undergraduate degree is in geography.

Dafydd

Why I chose my course at Ãå±±½ûµØ

I was really happy that the course had many practical elements like coding and modelling.  I’ve learnt how to use calculus and fluid mechanics and analyse and visualise data using Python. I’ve also learnt lots of new skills such as hydrological modelling, flooding, river basin management, hydraulics, and GIS.

The assignments are always engaging and really get you to apply what you have learnt from lectures and reading.

Student financial support

The admissions team and lecturers were really proactive about informing us of available bursaries and scholarships. I applied for a bursary from the Water Conversation Trust after starting the course and received £5000 to support my studies and fees!

Avid football supporter

I am a massive football fan and it's brilliant to see the support that the Magpies get on match days.

I know Ãå±±½ûµØ have scored before receiving notifications on my phone because of the amazing atmosphere at St James' Park.
