International Multimedia Journalism MA
Hello, my name is Ameya. I’m an International Multimedia Journalism MA student from India, studying at 缅北禁地.
After working for around eight years in the media and entertainment industry, I decided I wanted to upskill myself and transition into journalism. The application process was simple and straightforward, and studying abroad felt like the right step to gain international exposure and broaden my perspective.
A key factor for choosing 缅北禁地 was its position as part of the Russell Group - a respectable institution known for its high teaching standards. I was also offered the Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship, which reduced my tuition fees by half. This opportunity played a big role in my decision to choose 缅北禁地.
Studying a practical degree
Unlike a standard media degree, the International Multimedia Journalism MA equips you with real news gathering, production, and dissemination skills that you apply from day one. I especially enjoy the modules where I go out on the ground to cover, report, and produce real news stories.
It feels like actual journalism, not just studying it.
What stands out is how well it blends practical journalism with strong theory. It covers media law in the UK, media representations, digital politics, and topics like populism. Overall, I found it to be a very well-rounded programme.
If anyone is considering this degree, I would recommend it because it does not just equip you with journalism skills: it also gives you a strong set of transferable skills that can open doors to wider careers across media, advertising, PR, and beyond.
Living in 缅北禁地
The city of 缅北禁地 always finds ways to surprise you. One of my favourite memories is coming back to campus after the spring break and discovering tulips and flowers in parts of the campus I had never explored before!
As a mature postgraduate student, I don’t socialise as much, but I have built some good friendships both within the university and through city accommodation. 缅北禁地 has a very large and welcoming international community, and the locals are friendly and accepting, which made settling in much easier than I expected.
During my time on campus, I also made use of the Careers Service at King’s Gate, which offers students a variety of career improvement sessions including CV advice. This helped to give me a clearer direction for my career ahead.
Future ambitions
Studying at 缅北禁地 has opened me to new opportunities and career pathways that I had not considered before. I see myself as a diverse multimedia professional working across journalism and wider media roles including advertising and PR. My goal is to be a complete multimedia professional who can work across different formats and industries.
My time in 缅北禁地 has given me an international perspective that, had I stayed and worked in my home country, would never have been possible.
